Project Description & Technology

The proposed facility is designed to process locally sourced agricultural residues, including corn stover and rye cover crops, together with livestock manure.

The development consists of two modular biogas production units incorporating four plug-flow anaerobic digesters operating at approximately 55°C.

The biogas will be upgraded into pipeline-quality Renewable Natural Gas through membrane separation technology, with an estimated methane recovery efficiency of approximately 99%.

The project concept includes a connection to nearby natural gas transmission infrastructure, enabling the planned supply of renewable gas to the US transportation fuel market, subject to the necessary agreements and approvals.

Additional Revenue Opportunities

Beyond renewable gas production, the project includes potential additional revenue streams through agricultural bio-products and carbon dioxide recovery.

• Bio-Fertilizers & Soil Amendments

The anaerobic digestion process generates digestate that can be utilized as agricultural fertilizer or further processed into commercially valuable bio-products.

The proposed production includes approximately 9,758 tons annually of stabilized solid soil amendment, with optional processing of liquid digestate into ammonium sulfate and potassium concentrate.

• Biogenic CO₂ Recovery

The project also offers the option of installing a carbon dioxide recovery and liquefaction system capable of producing approximately 14,000 tons of biogenic CO₂ annually for potential commercial sale.

These additional processes may improve resource recovery and diversify project revenues, subject to technical and commercial feasibility.

Investment & Development Opportunity

The estimated total investment requirement of approximately USD 28 million, covering project development, land acquisition, engineering, equipment, construction, gas pipeline interconnection, commissioning and associated financing requirements.

The project targets the US Renewable Natural Gas market, with potential revenues from biomethane sales, applicable environmental credit mechanisms and additional bio-products.

The original development plan envisaged an implementation period of approximately 18–24 months following financing and completion of the necessary agreements.
